Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 remains determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport. Using this fortune to fund his search, Gi-hun starts with the most obvious of places: look for the man in a sharp suit playing ddakji in the subway. But when his efforts finally yield results, the path toward taking down the organization proves to be deadlier than he imagined: to end the game, he needs to re-enter it. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who made history at the 74th Primetime Emmys® becoming the first Asian to win Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, once again helms the series as director, writer, and producer. • Mad Max: Fury Road Q&A with Director/Co-Writer/Producer George Miller (Zoom Event)

Zoom/Online see event description for link details, CA, United States

Picturehouse 441 and ACE are proud to be partnering on a series of live virtual Q&As as part of our mutual efforts to promote media literacy.
Join us for a Q&A with director/co-writer/producer George Miller as he discusses his 2015 post-apocalyptic action film Mad Max: Fury Road. At Picturehouse 441, we've never repeated ourselves, but we felt that if there ever was an occasion to do so, this would be the one, especially on the exact 10th anniversary of its release. With Mad Max: Fury Road, gonzo filmmaker George Miller returned to the series with which he made his name and created an instantly-iconic, action masterpiece. A visually maximalist, narratively minimalist post-apocalyptic adrenaline rush of pure cinema, the fourth entry in this legendary franchise is a fever dream of insane action sequences, expertly cut by editor Margaret Sixel, ACE, who won the Oscar for her work. A deeply pleasurable assault on the senses that was deservingly hailed as a landmark in action cinema, Mad Max: Fury Road is the result of a filmmaker and his team who adventured to the cliff of madness and lived to give audiences a glimpse of what was over the edge.

Join us a Q&A with VFX Supervisor Richard Edlund, ASC, as he discuss his work on the 1981 action-adventure Raiders of the Lost Ark. A masterclass in filmmaking, Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of cinema’s most oft-imitated but never equalled pieces of brilliance. From Lawrence Kasdan’s whip-smart (pun intended) screenplay to Spielberg’s typically confident direction to Richard Edlund and co’s Oscar-winning visual effects to Michael Kahn, ACE's expert editing to John William’s rousing score to Harrison Ford’s career-defining performance, everything about this film is instantly-iconic. While Raiders may be an homage to films and serials of days gone by, it remixes these older works through a new lens with cutting-edge technology and manages to thrill no matter how many times it's viewed.
