Picturehouse 441 and ACE are proud to be partnering on a series of live virtual Q&As as part of our mutual efforts to promote film literacy.
Join us for a Q&A with director Edward Berger and editor Nick Emerson, as they discuss their 2024 mystery thriller Conclave. Making good on the promise of his multi-Oscar-winning international breakout, All Quiet on the Western Front, director Edward Berger has crafted another richly compelling, exceptionally well-paced (thanks to editor Nick Emerson) film with Conclave. Following a cardinal (an exceptional Ralph Fiennes) as he heads a committee to find a new Pope, this unlikely thriller is chock-full of unpredictable twists and poses provocative questions about the state of the modern-day Catholic Church. The rare new release that perfectly balances juicy plot turns with genuine intelligence, Conclave further elevates Berger into the upper-echelon of exciting filmmakers working today.

Picturehouse 441 and ACE are proud to be partnering on a series of live virtual Q&As as part of our mutual efforts to promote film literacy.
Join us for a Q&A with cinematographer Alice Brooks, ASC, and editor Myron Kerstein, ACE, as they discuss their film 2024 musical fantasy film Wicked. A sumptuous, soaring ode to Golden Age Hollywood musicals with a distinctly modern sensibility, Universal Pictures’ Wicked, based on the generation-defining blockbuster stage musical, now arrives onscreen as a spectacular cinematic event. While the film is epic in scale, director Jon M. Chu and cinematographer Alice Brooks imbue it with a handmade quality that makes the film feel intimate, emotional and like a true labor of love. As cut by Oscar-nominated editor Myron Kerstein, ACE, each musical number pops off the screen, and enough praise cannot be heaped upon stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, who provide Wicked with its big, beating heart. The result is a singular cinematic achievement that is both deeply satisfying and dramatically bold.
