The next West Coast "American Cinema Editors Presents" event will be a screening of the 1980 American neo-noir crime drama American Gigolo followed by a conversation with editor Richard Halsey, ACE, at Los Angeles institution Vidiots.
Richard Gere sizzles in Paul Schrader’s sexy thriller of a male escort in over his head after the death of a client. Julian lives the Los Angeles dream through sensual means and he lives it in the epitome of early '80s neon-soaked style. As he seduces women at a price he begins to fall for one, even as he’s suspected of the murder of another. With a sick Giorgio Moroder soundtrack and the art, architecture, and fashion of early '80s LA, this scorcher will leave you thirsty… for more!
General Admission Tickets are $13
(Vidiots Members Receive Discount)
Proceeds benefit the Vidiots Foundation

Join us a Q&A with VFX Supervisor Richard Edlund, ASC, as he discuss his work on the 1981 action-adventure Raiders of the Lost Ark. A masterclass in filmmaking, Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of cinema’s most oft-imitated but never equalled pieces of brilliance. From Lawrence Kasdan’s whip-smart (pun intended) screenplay to Spielberg’s typically confident direction to Richard Edlund and co’s Oscar-winning visual effects to Michael Kahn, ACE's expert editing to John William’s rousing score to Harrison Ford’s career-defining performance, everything about this film is instantly-iconic. While Raiders may be an homage to films and serials of days gone by, it remixes these older works through a new lens with cutting-edge technology and manages to thrill no matter how many times it's viewed.

Join us for a Q&A with editors Shelly Westerman, ACE, and Payton Koch as they discuss their work on the mystery comedy/drama television series Only Murders in the Building. In season four of Only Murders in the Building, Charles, Oliver & Mabel wrestle with the shocking events at the end of season three surrounding Charles’ stunt double & friend Sazz Pataki. Questioning whether Sazz or Charles was the intended victim, our trio’s investigation leads them all the way to Los Angeles where a Hollywood studio is readying a film about the Only Murders podcast. As our amateur sleuths race back to New York, they embark on an even more epic journey — traversing their building’s courtyard to delve into the twisted lives of the Arconia’s West Tower residents. Join us for a Q&A with director/co-writer/producer George Miller as he discusses his 2015 post-apocalyptic action film Mad Max: Fury Road. At Picturehouse 441, we've never repeated ourselves, but we felt that if there ever was an occasion to do so, this would be the one, especially on the exact 10th anniversary of its release. With Mad Max: Fury Road, gonzo filmmaker George Miller returned to the series with which he made his name and created an instantly-iconic, action masterpiece. A visually maximalist, narratively minimalist post-apocalyptic adrenaline rush of pure cinema, the fourth entry in this legendary franchise is a fever dream of insane action sequences, expertly cut by editor Margaret Sixel, ACE, who won the Oscar for her work. A deeply pleasurable assault on the senses that was deservingly hailed as a landmark in action cinema, Mad Max: Fury Road is the result of a filmmaker and his team who adventured to the cliff of madness and lived to give audiences a glimpse of what was over the edge.
