The 75th Annual ACE Eddie Awards, which were postponed from their original date on January 18 due to the recent wildfires in Los Angeles, will now be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at UCLA's Royce Hall. As previously announced, the 75th Annual ACE Eddie Awards is now a fundraiser with a portion of the proceeds going to wildfire relief. The event has also transitioned from Black Tie to “Come As You Are” allowing guests to focus on solidarity and celebration, rather than attire. ACE will be announcing other wildfire relief efforts before the ceremony.

The next lacpug meet is Thursday, March 20, back at the Gallery Theatre in Hollywood.
Join us as we welcome back Philip Hodgetts who will show us the new captionAnimator as well as a quick tour of the text based editor BUILDER NLE. This will be the last demo at lacpug for Philip as he is moving back to Australia. Be sure to attend if only to say goodbye.
Also Deaf editor/filmmaker Toj Mora will join us to show and tell about his process, and more importantly how he does it in a hearing world. There will be ASL interpreters in the theatre so if you know anyone in the deaf community, tell them to come on out and support Toj.
Also honored to have editor, producer, and director Joshua Kulic, who is currently head of Post Production at MrBeast. MrBeast was the first "YouTuber" to successfully bridge into commercial streaming media with Beast Games where Joshua was the Exectuive Producer. This was a monster of a show, and Josh will show us how they did it.

Icons of French cinema Jean-Louis Trintignant and Emmanuelle Riva play an elderly couple facing final separation by cruel death in Haneke’s tender-yet-hard study of life at the precipice. Cinematographer Darius Khondji offers a litany of locked-down framings, brittle in their composed beauty, each marked by an elegant exactitude and slowly suffocating airlessness, while editor Monika Willi’s smooth, sure-handed cutting lends what otherwise might be a stultifyingly static work a feeling of grim, merciless momentum, sliding imperceptibly towards the Great Beyond. Perhaps Haneke’s ultimate directorial accomplishment—and, incidentally, a eulogy for the youthful dreams of the 1960s European art cinema.
Q&A with editor Monika Willi on Friday, March 28th

Joining us will be Cinematographer, Alice Brooks ASC, and Editor, Myron Kerstein ACE, as they discuss how their collaboration helped to visually redefine this modern Broadway classic into the grandeur of Wicked: The Movie.
From the wonder of sets constructed on a massive scale to the intricate, award-winning costume design, few elements of the production stand out on screen more than the collaboration between this Cinematographer and Editor as they visually interpret the magic of Director Jon M. Chu’s ambitious vision in this awe-inspiring portrayal of the Land of Oz before Dorothy.
