An animated film in which animals actually act like animals and flood waters fill a wondrous, almost otherworldly landscape, Flow charts a new course for feature animation with its innovative style and exceptional command of storytelling. Join us for a Q&A with editor Jay Rabinowitz, ACE, as he discusses his work on 2000 psychological drama Requiem for a Dream. Darren Aronofsky’s second film, Requiem for a Dream, is a hellish work of drama about a group of individuals whose lives are torn apart by their drug addictions. While drug addiction films are a dime a dozen, what distinguishes Requiem from all of the other films of its kind is its complete commitment to assaulting all of the senses in an effort to bring the audience as close as possible to its characters’ broken minds and lives. Grounded by Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, and Jennifer Connolly’s heartbreaking performances, Requiem is also one of the best-edited films of all time, providing a showcase for Jay Rabinowitz’s experimental, shocking work that provides the film with much of its haunting power.
