ACTIVE MEMBER. Active Members are working editors whose achievements as a Motion Picture Editor show exceptional ability and distinction.

ASSOCIATE MEMBER. An ACE Intern, Diversity mentee or ACE Fellowship recipient shall be admitted as an Associate Member of the American Cinema Editors by virtue of having been accepted in any of the aforementioned programs, or in any other program designated by the Directors.

AFFILIATE MEMBER. Any person in a professional position in the motion picture and broadcast industries or their allied fields who the Board of Directors deems qualified for membership in the American Cinema Editors.

HONORARY MEMBER. A person deemed worthy by the Board of Directors because of contributions to the film and broadcast industries may be an Honorary Member.

SPECIAL MEMBER. A person who has served the American Cinema Editors in a distinct manner, shall, by majority vote of a quorum of the Board of Directors, be made a special member.

LIFE MEMBER. An Active Member who ceases to be actively employed in the field of motion picture editing for reasons of retirement, transfer to other fields, or illness, may by unanimous vote of a quorum of the Board of Directors be granted a Life Membership.

INTERNATIONAL PARTNER MEMBER. This classification is open to active editors not residing in North America who are members of a by-ACE recognized editing organization in their country of residence.
